Summer Birds
They say there are fairer shores
Out beyond my view
And skies of liquid blue
Open out to you
They say that a bitter wind
And fields of drifting snow
Are things you’ll never know
You know when to go
Summer birds are beautiful
But they don’t stick around
Seasons change and to the sun
They’re always bound
They say that the pull of tides
And spheres that turn in space
Leave lines you have to trace
And set your heart to race
They say that the force at play
Is strong as father time
And equally unkind
Won’t release its binds
Summer birds’ll sing a tune
Of the rarest sound
When leaves change
The sweet melody can’t be found
You might as well try catching light
Keeping Summer birds from flight
You might as well try catching light
Keeping Summer birds from flight
They say there are fairer shores
Out beyond my view
And skies of liquid blue
Open out to you
They say that a bitter wind
And fields of drifting snow
Are things you’ll never know
You know when to go
Summer birds are beautiful
But they don’t stick around
Seasons change and to the sun
They’re always bound
To the sun, sun, sun
